Guide Kate Hennessy
Guide Kate Hennessy is a writer and the award-winning author of Dorothy Day: The World Will Be Saved by Beauty, a biography and memoir of her grandmother Dorothy Day (Scribner 2017). Kate’s extensive world travels as a pilgrim have taken her to, among many other places, Guatemala, Turkey, the Congo, the former Soviet Union and Spain. She conducts memoir-writing workshops in addition to lecturing at universities, churches, schools, and peace and justice organizations around the USA. Kate’s connection to Ireland (other than her heritage) goes back decades to when, on her first visit to Ireland, she spent a miserable week hitchhiking from Dublin to Donegal in the rain. She nevertheless fell in love with the people, culture, and landscape. Her interests lie in Irish mythology and early Irish Christianity, along with exploring the back roads with her husband, Garry Jones.
Guide Garry Jones
Garry Jones has composed music for rock operas, musicals, children’s musicals, documentaries, large-scale outdoor festivals, fire events, millennium celebrations and dance theater. He is an artist, creating musical sculptures, musical furniture and musical playgrounds. His work is in countries all over the world. He has worked with people with disabilities since the early 1990 and had owned and operated an adventure tour company in Australia for a number of years. A native Australian, his years in Ireland have created a deep and abiding interest in Celtic spirituality and sacred landscape. On tour, he offers his knowledge of Irish mythology in addition to his musical compositions, inspired by the Irish landscape and myths of the Divine Feminine.
Kate and Garry’s Invitation: In forming this unique partnership, we hope to once again become active participants in this “knowing” that we are pilgrims who walk upon sacred land, no matter where we live or what faith traditions we follow, and that it is incumbent upon us to once again participate in this sacred relationship.
